Employers Slash 80,000 Jobs

WordPress has changed their setup and it seems that adding pictures isn’t working too well.  I apologize for that.  Today the government announced that employers cut 80,000 jobs in March.

“The labor market has indeed turned south,” said Joel Naroff, president of Naroff Economic Advisors. “That was the one last bastion of hope to stay out of a recession. Now the question is how deep and how long will it last?”

I’m getting kind of sick of this sort of naysaying attitude.  America didn’t get where it is by backing down from anybody.  Some of you may have lost a nice cushy job, but you know there’s nothing wrong with good honest hard labor.  For some of you it is time to downsize and rediscover the joy of working hard for your survival.  In truth I’d love to have that kind of job if not for my current economic situation.

Take inspiration from the great Scottish poert Robert Burns:

Is there for honest poverty
That hangs his head, an’ a’ that
The coward slave, we pass him by
We dare be poor for a’ that
For a’ that, an’ a’ that
Our toil’s obscure and a’ that
The rank is but the guinea’s stamp
The man’s the gowd for a’ that

What though on hamely fare we dine
Wear hoddin grey, an’ a’ that
Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine
A man’s a man, for a’ that
For a’ that, an’ a’ that
Their tinsel show an’ a’ that
The honest man, though e’er sae poor
Is king o’ men for a’ that

Ye see yon birkie ca’d a lord
Wha struts an’ stares an’ a’ that
Tho’ hundreds worship at his word
He’s but a coof for a’ that
For a’ that, an’ a’ that
His ribband, star and a’ that
The man o’ independent mind
He looks an’ laughs at a’ that
