Who Says Girls Can’t Be Reporters?

with 4 comments

OK Ann Coulter and Condi Rice are often touted as the beauties of the Conservative set, but I have a soft spot for conservative blogger Debbie Schlussel.   Now some people think she’s extreme and they’ll use language like crackpot or loon, but this woman isn’t afraid to put herself on the line for a story.  She once infiltrate a mosque in Detroit in full Muslim attire to get the dirt on their anti-American preaching. To quote her Yahoo Group, “Debbie is proof positive that “Dumb Blonde” is an oxymoron–her beauty and brains are a lethal combination”

Recently, in one of their many anti-Obama pieces the LA Times ripped off Miss Schlussel, borrowing heavily from her piece and not crediting her:

The Senator has since “changed” his proclaimed views from those he expressed privately, in order to get Jewish donors and votes. And he has succeeded in spades. Lee Rosenberg a top Illinois official of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the pro-Israel lobby is a big Obama donor. Ditto for former national AIPAC official Bob Asher. And Penny Pritzker of the pro-Israel family that owns Hyatt hotels.

Peter Wallsten, L.A. Times:

Even as he won support in Chicago’s Palestinian community, Obama tried to forge ties with advocates for Israel. . . . As a presidential candidate, Obama has won support from such prominent Chicago Jewish leaders as Penny Pritzker, a member of the family that owns the Hyatt hotel chain, and who is now his campaign finance chair, and from Lee Rosenberg, a board member of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

I’m sorry, but if the MSM continues to steal from us bloggers where does that leave us?  I am publicly putting the LA Times and any other media sources on notice that they better not try ripping off my ideas.  To read more of Debbie’s great blog check her out at

  1. If Debbie Schlussel’s website wasn’t full of bile, intolerance and juvenile namecalling, perhaps she’d see a little more respect. The woman has little to no credibility at this point. The ultimate point of her column is the elimination of all Muslims. You’re actually praising this woman?

Schlussel doesn’t have a copyright on facts. No one ripped her off.

  2. If she has little to no credibility then why are MSM reporters ripping off her stories?

  3. Reporting facts is not a rip off, Old Guy. Peter Wallsten is a respected journalist with verifiable sources. Schlussel is a smear merchant who peddles speculation and innuendo next to anonymous sources. They’re night and day.

  4. So let me get this straight Lance–her website is full of bile, intolerance, and juvenile namecalling. Meanwhile, Peter Wallsten is a respected journalist. However, he didn’t rip her off by posting the same stuff she did? If she’s a vile hante monger and he’s a respected journalist, how can they be posting the same stuff?
