Democratic Witchunt Ends

The Republican commissioner of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Bruce Barclay was finally exonerated of rape charges in a case that was far more about political revenge than any law breaking.  Videotapes cleared Barclay of any wrongdoing, but could not salvage his career even though his accuser is now facing charges for filing a false police report.

“It is clear in my client’s private life he has made an error of judgment. What is striking is this very same lack of judgment exonerates him from a rape allegation that wasn’t going anywhere.”

It is indeed a sad day when a good man loses his job for a momentary private indiscretion–especially when he is vindicated by the evidence.

  1. It showed tremendous foresight for Mr. Barclay to videotape his frequent encounters with male sexual partners and equally male prostitutes.(Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) Not everyone finds it so easy to disprove a rape allegation. He really should have gotten permission for the taping, though, don’t you think? I think there is something wrong with taping people in that kind of situation without their consent. Still, it’s good to know he didn’t rape anyone. I guess Republican family values remain intact, if you set the bar very, very low.
