Charlie Gibson Wins Debate

with 3 comments

I never had much use for him, but over the past couple of year’s I’ve grown to really admire Charles Gibson.  His rise from the cooking segments and interviews with Mr. T and Britney Spears that he was doing on Good Morning America to anchoring ABC’s national news was something to behold.  When Elizabeth Vargas got pregnant and Bob Woodruff got injured in Iraq, ABC needed an anchor who wouldn’t suffer either fate.  It was between Gibson and Diane Sawyer so Gibson took the initiative and by threatening to walk got the job.  The rest as they say is broadcast history.

Last night Gibson emerged for me as the real winner of the debate.  While other reporters may have been tempted to ask the same boring questions about the war, education, health care, gas prices, and the economy that we’ve been hearing to death lately Gibson gave us what we wanted–bitter gate, Obama’s friends, Hillary in Bosnia, Can Hillary win, why don’t you guys run together, does Obama love the flag?  It was nice to see a Democrat debate where we Republicans got our voices heard.

Even when asked something about something relating to Presidential policy Gibson made sure to preface questions with his own opinions to give context and educate and inform the voter before letting the candidates attempt to answer with more spin.  Clearly one person emerged as the winner last night and that man is Charles deWolf Gibson.

  1. You people are so out there.

You ONLY love him because he’s a right-wing hack.

  2. Don’t you think he’d be more at home on Fox News?

  3. That’s not the only reason I love him. He would be a great choice to replace Allan Colmes.
