Alan Keyes Has Left the Republican Party

with 4 comments

Alan Keyes has left the Republican party this week to run for President with the Constitutional Party.  At first I took this as a personal betrayal and I refused to even comment on it, but now that I think about it, this is a great opportunity for Mr. Keyes and I’m not going to resent him for taking it or stand in his way.  So as he’s no longer a Republican I have written a song for him.  The tun is Elton John’s Candle in the Wind, but they lyrics are mine:

Goodbye Alan Keyes
Though I’ve never voted for you at all.
You like to run for President

Every four years in the fall.
You crawl out of the woodwork
And you whisper into our brain
You are the true conservative
Even more than John McCain
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a true Republican
You’re someone we can cling to
If the liberals start to win.
And maybe McCain will appoint you
to an ambassador position.
The Gipper did it once before
We could do it again.
Candidacy is tough
The toughest role you ever faced
You may not have won elections much
but at least you  always placed
Even when you lost
Oh the press still hounded you
When your daughter said she was lesbian
You told her she was through

Goodbye Alan Keyes
From the party of Karl Rove
Who sees you as something more than a token
We hate to see you go

  1. I’m for it if he takes Pat Robertson as his running mate if James Dobson’s not available.

  2. I’m not so high on Robertson since those commercials he did with Sharpton about global warning. He’s sold out.

  4. What a brilliant man. I hope he somehow sees the song I wrote for him.
