McCain Selflessly Suspends Campaign

with one comment

John Kerry shown here windsurfing after suspending his 2004 campaign in September of 2004.

John McCain heroicly suspended his campaign tonight freeing up the lobbyists who have been running his campaign to get back to lobbying for the Wall Street firms most in need of bailing out.  As a side effect, McCain will be able to rally support from the Republican members of congress who are still undecided on the bailout.  According to McCain campaign spokesperson Charlie Black, “I’ve been really preoccupied with helping John McCain become the next President of the United States and that has kind of distracted me from my clients.  JP Morgan & Chase has been very generous to me and its about time I repaid some of that money by making sure they get their fare share of the bailout.”

Ironically, this is roughly the same time in 2004 when John Kerry suspended his campaign out of disinterest.  By freeing up his lobbyists to get to work solving this crisis, McCain is showing true statesmanship. This is the type of Maverick behavior that has drawn these lobbyists to John McCain’s campaign in the first place.  I hope that Obama follows McCain’s lead.

  1. Now that’s some funny stuff. 🙂 I found your website following a comment from you at TPM. You should repost this one there. It would get a much bigger audience. They love snark.
