Obama Inauguration Coverage Biased

with one comment

I was disgusted by what I saw of the coverage of Obama’s inauguration yesterday.  The problem was that the massive Obama love fest was covered in a way that was extremely pro-Obama.  I heard reporters fawning over the tradition of Presidential inaugurations, how great it was to have an African-American President, the hopefulness of the people at the inauguration, and even how wonderful it is that the US changes power so peacefully.

You know what I didn’t hear?  Balanced coverage!  None of the reporters questioned why Obama would be sworn in on Lincoln’s Bible if he is a secret Muslim.  Nobody mentioned that Barrack Obama wasn’t even eligible to be President or that he was an evil person.  I didn’t hear one person on any of the networks talk about how much better off the country would be if John McCain had one.  Instead we had wall to wall coverage in favor of Obama.  Would it have been too much for the networks to set aside 15 minutes or so after Obama’s speech so that we Republicans could rebuttal?  I don’t think so.  Couldn’t we have heard from just one person who didn’t think electing a black President was a great idea.  We know those people are out there.

The final moment for me when I had enough was when CNN was fawning over Obama and his wife dancing rather awkwardly and laughing.  The reporter called it a beautiful moment.  Excuse me, but I’ve seen better dancing at wedding receptions.  I finally had to just turn off the television before I threw something through it.  The networks have a responsibility to this country to hold Obama under a microscope.  They failed in this responsibility with Bush and that is even more reason they must redouble their efforts to make sure that Obama is kept under very close scrutiny.  The inauguration coverage was one-sided and very disapointing.

  1. well, now it’s finally clear why obama insisted on describing himself as multi-racial rather than black: the brother can’t dance!!
