That’s Right Nate

Happy Valentines Day

Valentines Day has never been one of my favorite days.  Ever since I got sent to the principal’s office in 2nd grade for telling Mrs. McCulskey that giving every student in the class a valentine promoted both bisexuality and socialism I have felt like the holiday has been out to get me.  However, things have been looking up on the romance front for Nate.  The girl who manages the McDonalds that I stop at for my breakfast in the morning had a McCain bumper sticker, doesn’t appear to be over 23, and having seen her chew out the cashier who messed up my order yesterday, she has got great potential as a firm parent.  I had heard that sending flowers to work counts twice so I gave the cashier at the drive through window a large bouquet and had her give them to her manager.  I thought that was a very romantic gesture.

I also put a Valentines Day card from me under her windshield wiper.  I put  my business card in it so she knows I own my own business and has my contact information and knows that I’m observant enough to know what car she drives.  Later tonight, I am going to casually drop by her house with some wine and just act like I was in the neighborhood.  We’ve talked a few times at work, but she has no idea I know where she lives so I am sure that she’ll be surprised. The other Valentine that I sent out this year was to Emily.  You can’t forget your daughter on a day like this.

  2. Nice of you to remember your daughter on Valentine’s Day. I’m sure she appreciates the sentiment and will be discussing it with her therapist for years to come. Do let us know how things worked last night. A romantic evening or a restraining order? These things can go either way.

  4. Nate, your card to Emily was sweet as always (you’re such a loving parent), but I was a bit surprised to see you interested in someone working at McDonald’s. I thought there were three main characteristics you looked for in a potential partner: youth, beauty, and money. Is the girl some eccentric billionaire or something?
Hey, the Oscars are just around the corner. Do you plan to write about them? Are you going to be live blogging during the Awards? Have you watched that communist Indian film, Slumdog Millionaire?
