Grassroots Movement Takes on Obama

Sometimes, I am really proud to be an American.   Heck, I’m always proud to be an American, but sometimes my country shows me something that no other country on the planet could.   Take the amazing grassroots fight against Obama’s health care fiasco.   The Dems, or as I like to call them the Dums, like to pretend that this is some kind of “astroturf” movement or a fake movement started by corporations, lobbyists, and Republicans to attack health care reform and make it look like a movement of the people.  However, there can be no doubt.  This IS a movement of the people.

You can see it on places like Twitter and Facebook where Republicans have taken to labeling their avatars with “I am the mob.”  I don’t really like this because it makes our movement seem shady and Italian, but it is definitely a way of showing that hanging people in effigy and doing whatever it takes to disrupt town hall meetings comes from the people.  As in anything, some people have really stood out for their grassroots activism for the cause.

  • The grassroots robocallers who helped to force Arizona Representative Ann Kirkpatrick to cancel her town hall meeting yesterday.   Nothing increases the reach of everyday citizens like robocalling.
  • Heather Blish who was very vocal in helping to shout down Representative Steve Kagan (D-WI) at a town hall.  When the local NBC affiliate asked her if she was a member of the Republican party the modest Blish replied that she was just a mom from down the street.  Other people would have been tempted to brag about her stint as Vice Chair of the Kewaunee Republican Party or her work last year for John Gard’s unsuccessful campaign against Kagan.
  • It’s people like Mark Oyen at the Tampa townhall yesterday who took time from his job as a pharmaceutical salesman to help shut down the health care town hall.  That’s pretty impressive.  Do you know how much those people make selling drugs?  Yet he was there with other everyday Joes to stand against health care.

I have the feeling that President Obama has no idea what he’s in for.  With everyday people like Mark and Heather leading the charge I don’t think we can lose.   Let the socialists try rattling off their health care agenda.  We won’t hear them.  We’ll be too busy shouting.
