Bush Administration Goes Out With a Bang

with one comment

Deers better not start anything now that Im packing.

Deers better not start anything now that I'm packing.

Imagine you take your family out for a lovely picnic lunch in your local national park.  You’re hiking down the path looking for a nice shady place to eat your lunch–dum de dum–you’re minding your own business when all of a sudden WHAM!!  Out comes a ravenous mountain lion.  You’re able to run away, but what about your poor wife and children. Chances are, they’ve become that mountain lion’s lunch.

The above scenario used to happen all the time, but now thanks to President Bush, if you go into the national parks you can do so with the confidence that you can pack heat.  If that mountain lion pops out now, you simply reach for your trusty handgun and your children are not only safe, but they also have a wonderful story to tell their friends.  Not only that, but since we can carry concealed weapons in state parks, wild animals will have absolutely no idea who is armed.  Sure, some bear may be tempted by your picnic basket, but he’ll leave you alone because he’ll know that he could wind up as a rug if he doesn’t watch his step.

The last days of an administration is a time of great statesmanship when Presidents can count on building their legacy instead of getting reelected. Already Bush has helped pardon several people who were wrongly imprisoned because either they or their families were large Republican donors and protected American businesses from excessive environmental laws. It is no wonder that Bush’s approval rating has been threatening to break into double digits.

Boy 8 Shoots His Own Father

with 12 comments

childrenincrisisThis we saw another casualty of the teacher unions and the bloated educational bureacracy in this country.  An 8 year old Arizona boy was charged with premeditated murder after he shot and killed his father and another man with a .22 caliber rifle methodically stopping and reloading as he killed them.

This is hot on the heels of the case of another 8 year old boy from Massachusetts who shot himself in the head while firing an uzi.  Now, from everything we have heard this Arizona boy was well adjusted and not a discipline problem.  His father tried to do all he could by teaching him to shoot prarie dogs, but how is a working parent supposed to have enough time to teach his child about proper gun safety including that you never ever point a gun at another person and shoot them.  This is the job of our schools and it is a job they are neglecting.

Fortunately, since the boy is 8 he can be charged as an adult in Arizona and not coddled by juvenile justice, but this tragedy should never have happenned in the first place.  Firearm safety is as important to our children’s future as math or reading and if scholars are right about this being the end times maybe moreso.  Until we start holding school boards responsible for making sure that every 8 year old in this country is able to properly care for and safely fire a gun we are all at risk.  While some parents might opt for homeschooling I really believe that children gain more responsibility by handling firearms around other children–something that parents simply cannot provide as readily.  Let us begin to demand more of our schools.  Let’s hold them accountable so that tragedies like this do not happen again.

Lincoln and McKinley

with 11 comments

If Lincoln had been armed, would this have happened?

We really drove today.  We had a spur of the moment idea and went two hours out of Louisville to Hodgenville Kentucky and the birthplace of Lincoln.  I LOVED IT!!  Lincoln has never, been one of my favorite Presidents because I think the civil war would have been avoidable if we had simply let the free market end slavery of its own economic failure.  However, the gift shop was awesome.  I picked up a Hillibilly toothbrush, a Hillbilly calendar, a confederate shot glass, and 3 wooden guns stamped with the Lincoln Birthplace logo.  I really thought they’d stay away from guns in a place honoring Lincoln, but guns and Johnny Reb were clearly in abundance.  It was terrific seeing them give equal weight to both confederate and union points of views…in the gift shop anyway.

The similiarities between McCain and Robert E. Lee were very clear.  Both being career military men from Virginia who are willing to fight for causes they don’t believe in for the good of the country is a very inspiring symbol.  Especially, the way they have both stood up to a man who is great at making speeches, but may not be acting in the country’s interests.

McKinley was less impressive.  I loved the animatronics and the memorial outside is awe inspiriing.  However, the museum is shared with, among others, the museum of broken down trucks.  I also was hoping to pick up another souevenir gun for a friend’s kid, but even though McKinley like Lincoln was shot, they didn’t really have much.  We’re in Canton now and tomorrow we’ll be in Grand Rapids.  At some point I need to post more about the liberal bias in Batman.  Unfortunately, the movie seems very successful and it isn’t clear that a That’s Right Nate boycott could derail it the same way it did Stoploss.

Getting Shot is a Credential

with 3 comments

There has been a lot of fuss lately about John McCain never leading troops in combat.  The arguement put forth by General Wesley Clark was that getting shot down wasn’t a qualification for being President.  I strongly disagree.  Some of this country’s finest Presidents from Abraham Lincoln to Ronald Reagan were shot.  Surely Mister Clark, they may not be Barack Obama, but I hope you will give them some credit for the job they did.

I was no big fan of his, but Martin Luther King was shot too as were Pat Tillman, Stonewall Jackson, and Benny Goodman.  I believe all of them had strong leadership qualities.  Face it, if Barack Obama were shot while running for President the mainstream press would call him the greatest American of our generation.

In the Natural, being shot helped make Roy Hobbs “the best there ever was”.  Maybe it has done the same for John McCain.  Let’s all help him knock one out of the park this November.

Buy a Car, Get a Gun

leave a comment »

As a small businessman myself I love it when I see innovation in the marketplace.  Take Max Motors in Butler, Missouri that is offering a new handgun with every new car purchase.  Their slogan is God, Guns, and Gas.  Their wesbite is worth a look.  It provides irrefutable proof that Barrack Obama is muslim.   From their website:

“If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts…this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States…better heed this and pray about it and share it.

We checked this out on “snopes.com”. It is factual. Check for yourself….The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level – through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!”

This is great information and it doesn’t take me long to forward emails to people I know.  My friends are on a contact list that I forward between 20-30 articles like this to per day.   Of course some of my friends (Paul, Gregg :::Cough, Cough:::) keep letting their mail boxes get full.  Anyway, check out this great place to buy a car http://gunsandgas.com/

When They Took Away Their Guns I Said Nothing

with 3 comments

When I came upon David’s Right Way of Thinking earlier today I knew I had found a kindred spirit.  His blog David’s Right Way of Thinking (http://davidsright.blogspot.com/) is spot on in agreement with me on a whole host of issues, but I recently read about the troubles in England and I reallized, well I reallized that David was right.

David posted a list of the violent crimes from just one week in the UK:

Two women have been arrested after a female cyclist was stabbed to death in the Anfield area of Liverpool. The unidentified victim was riding a bicycle on Whitfield Road on Friday night when a car pulled up alongside her and an argument broke out.

A HAUL of shotguns, air weapons and other firearms that have been handed in to police were set to be destroyed in Edinburgh today. Around 800 weapons have been handed over to Lothian and Borders Police during an amnesty over the past six months.

Officers in a marked police car saw the 38-year-old man armed with a firearm walking towards a crowd of people in Harrow Road, Paddington, around 7:30pm on Wednesday. The man fled and was chased on foot by officers and arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery with a firearm. He is currently being held in custody at a central London police station.

Muslim leaders have condemned an attack on an Anglican clergyman calling the assault “cowardly and despicable”.  Canon Michael Ainsworth, 57, was beaten by youths described as Asian in the grounds of St George-in-the-East, Shadwell, east London, on 5 March.

A 35-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious head injuries after an attack at a petrol station on Wednesday night.  Police said they were treating the incident, at Sainsbury’s petrol station in Woodlands Road, Glasgow, as attempted murder. The man was said to be in a serious condition at the Southern General Hospital.

Three teenagers who left a 16-year-old boy minutes from death and broke a 15-year-old’s cheekbone in what a judge called an “insatiable desire to inflict injury” have been jailed indefinitely. The three youths were 15 when they spent an afternoon hunting victims in Boston, Lincolnshire. They set about the 16-year-old with such savagery that he was left for dead, having fits on the ground and with blood spilling from his mouth.

Could you imagine if the United States had a crime blotter like that for just 7 days?  The liberals in this country would be outraged and running around with their hands up in the air like they are for this ridiculous Earth Hour.  To quote David:

Gun control laws are considered the solution but don’t address the problem – the violence and crime. While it is easier to kill with a gun, UK is considering a knife registry and ban on samurai swords. Why? Because the reason for crime and violence has not been addressed. “

So what would happen in this country after they take away our right to bear arms? I don’t know, but I think it would go a little something like this:

First they came for the guns and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a gun owner.
And then they came for the Samurai Swords and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a sword owner.
And then they came for the ballistas and I didn’t speak up because I didn’t have a ballista.
And then they came for my machete…And there was nobody left to take up arms to stop them.

Don’t think that gun control doesn’t affect you because you don’t have a gun–it does.

Gun Safety Must be Taught in Schools

with 4 comments

If you’ve learned to drive in the past 50 years you probably learned how in school.   The reason is because the government has decided that a car can be very dangerous and teens should learn proper road safety before driving.  Guns can also be dangerous and as I believe all Americans have a responsibility to arm themselves to protect themselves and their neighbors we also have a responsibility to teach gun safety to our next generation of gun owners.

Gun safety classes should begin for students in junior high.  In the beginning of the school day teachers could take the time to make sure that their students’ firearms are cleaned and in safe condition.  In the afternoon, students could have a course and gun care and safety.    In poorer districts this would probably have to be in place of physical education.  In other school districts it could be an extra class.  Our children have too short a school day already.  By introducing gun clubs and practice ranges students could work on gun safety and marksmanship in afterschool extracuricullar activities.

The time that these students will spend learning about their guns will pay off down the road when as adults they are able to care, clean, and use their guns safely as proud Americans.
